In 1973, Reinhard Benz established SOTAX. Over the past 50 years, it has grown from a small regional company in Basel in Switzerland with 11 employees to the international company we know today.
The SOTAX Group provides automated dissolution testing systems, sample prep workstations for content uniformity and assay testing, and tablet testing instruments for the pharmaceutical, medical device, biopharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries.
SOTAX started with only two instruments in 1973: the world’s first flow-through dissolution apparatus and a compact disintegration tester for tablets and capsules.
In the 1980s and 1990s, the company pioneered work in the field of automation before eventually expanding its operations outside of Europe.
In 2022, SOTAX broadened its strategic reach and further extended its services portfolio. The new division ‘Pharma Services’ now operates laboratories in France, USA, and India.
Three teams of industry professionals help pharmaceutical companies worldwide to address the challenges of developing, optimising, validating, and registering reliable testing methods throughout the life cycle of a drug, from discovery to commercial manufacturing.
