Evolve has flown the flag for Malta by attending this year’s Ghana-EU Business Forum.

The event, held in Accra, brought together business leaders and captains of industry, policy institutions, thought leaders, and other influential stakeholders to discuss investment ideas and prospects under the EU Global Gateway Strategy.

Chief Visionary Officer Christopher Busuttil Delbridge led the Evolve team, which included Business Account Manager Zachary Muscat and Lord Thompson, Evolve’s International Business Developer in Ghana.

Zachary told us: ‘We were honoured to engage with diverse business leaders, members of the European delegation and government officials.

The forum was bustling with energetic individuals, eager to further their impact on the community. Much is to be done in the realms of quality, speciality training and harmonization for export.

However the EU delegation together with the Ghanaian administration is hard at work creating the financial structures needed to support this fast developing region to reach its full potential.’

He continued: ‘The event offered invaluable networking opportunities, fostering connections across various key economic sectors namely agriculture, pharma and renewable energy. It was inspiring to witness the collaborative spirit and shared vision for economic growth and development.’

The event was officially opened by the Ghana Trade Minister K.T. Hammond and Deputy Director General of EU International Partnerships Myriam Ferran under the theme, ‘Fostering Investment in Non-Traditional Value Chains under the EU Global Gateway Strategy’.
Discussions included:
  • Plenary sessions on EU–Ghana trade and investment, partnerships and gauging the viability of Ghana as a destination for EU foreign direct investments.
  • Panels on business opportunities in the health, agribusiness, ICT/digital, automotive industry, textiles and garment and renewable energy sectors
  • Breakout sessions and presentations on using Access2Markets to export to the EU, intellectual property and rural electrification.
The European Union also launched a €32 million Special Measure on Manufacturing and Access to Vaccines, Medicines and Health Technologies in Africa to support the development of vaccine manufacturing and the pharmaceutical industry in Ghana.

This significant investment, launched during the Ghana-EU Business Forum, aims to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare sector and increase access to quality health products.

Through this initiative, the EU will support Ghana in establishing a thriving ecosystem able to produce the needed skilled workforce, strengthen research and development capacities, establish the necessary regulatory system and build bilateral partnerships for vaccine and pharmaceutical production.

The Deputy Director General, Directorate General of the European Commission, Myriam Ferran, said: ‘The European Union is committed to supporting Ghana’s development goals, and this investment in vaccine manufacturing and pharma is a testament to our partnership; this programme will not only enhance Ghana’s healthcare sector but also contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.’
